Senbukuji Temple
In Kunitachi, where there are many Tendai sect temples, Senpukuji Temple, a Zen sect temple founded by Zen master Muhaku Myoyu, is the Kyushu head temple of the Soto sect.
At its peak, the temple served as a training center for the Soto sect of Zen Buddhism, but like other Rokugou Mansen temples, it was burned to ashes during the Warring States Period, leaving only the Buddhist hall and Kaisandō Hall. Later, the temple's gate was rebuilt by the lord of Nakatsu Castle and others, and the temple's fortunes were revived.
In 2011, the zazendo hall that once existed was restored, making full-scale zazen possible in a formal-style building.
