Lake Kinrin
Lake Kinrin, located in Yufuin's rich natural environment, is one of Yufuin's representative tourist attractions.
The lake that was called "Takenshitaike (= pond under Mt.)" in Oita, because it is a pond under Mt. It is said that Mori Kusou named it "Kinrin Lake" when he saw the fish scales of the lake shining in the setting sun.
Yunotsubo Highway
Along the street, there are many souvenir shops selling Oita's special products such as yuzu gosho and restaurants where you can enjoy local gourmet food such as Toriten, and it is crowded with many tourists.
In addition, along the Oita River, which is off the street, is a recommended walking spot where you can enjoy seasonal scenery, and you can experience the quaint atmosphere unique to Yufuin, such as the idyllic rural scenery.
Umi Jigoku
The mysterious and cool Kobat Blue pond looks like the sea when you look at it, but it actually has a spring temperature of 98 degrees Celsius. This "Umi Jigoku" was created by the explosion of Mt. Tsurumi 1200 years ago.
At the shop, you can enjoy hot spring eggs boiled in hell and steamed hell pudding.
Blood Pond Hell
It is the oldest natural hell in Japan, "Blood Pond Jigoku", which is described as "Akayusen" in Bungo Fudoki. The boiling hot mud, which is suitable for hell, dyes the steam that is ejected red.
"Blood Pond Ointment" made of bright red clay spouting from hell is sold only at Blood Pond Hell, and it is popular as a souvenir because it works well for skin diseases such as eczema and burns.
Alum hot spring (Yunohana hut)
The Myoban Onsen area is a considerable geothermal area, and there are already hot spring veins around 30 cm underground, and steam of hot spring gas is ejected vigorously from the surface of the earth.
About 50 straw-roofed huts stand here and have been making Yunohana since the Edo period.
Fragrance Museum
The "Oita Fragrance Museum" in Beppu City is a museum with the theme of "fragrance", which is rare in the world.
From the origin of human civilization to the present day, we display and explain materials that historically spell out the relationship between humans and scents.
